AFP-WI Applauds Duffy’s First Action as Secretary of Transportation

Madison, WI – Today, Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin (AFP-WI) applauded Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy for directing the Department to begin review of the Biden administration’s fuel economy standards in his first action as Secretary.

AFP-WI State Director Megan Novak released the following statement:

“In true Wisconsin fashion, Secretary Duffy wasted no time getting to work and putting the needs of the American people first—taking swift action to begin reversing the Biden administration’s radical ‘Green New Deal’ agenda that was a de facto mandate to force all Americans into unaffordable electric vehicles.

“After four years of heavy-handed government mandates, Americans know firsthand how DC’s red tape only drives up costs and limits freedom. Rolling back these standards and eliminating the electric vehicle mandate will increase economic competition, lower costs, and make life more affordable for all Americans.

“AFP-WI applauds Secretary Duffy for acting in the best interests of Americans in his new role as Secretary of Transportation. We look forward to partnering with him to advance principled solutions that improve the lives of all Americans.”

Secretary Duffy’s action directs the agencies under his authority to review and reconsider all existing fuel economy standards for all motor vehicles from model year 2022 and forward, which were punishing consumers with higher prices and fewer options. The process to reverse Biden’s mandates is laid out in President Trump’s Executive Orders.
